The very fact that you’re here tells me you know that content managing your website is Vital to the success of your business or project. In this article, we will explore some of the reasons behind this & I will share my personal preferences & work ethic towards Content Management to give you an idea of what working with me might be like.
What do you mean by Website Content Management?
Its important to clear up what exactly I mean by Content Management before we dive into this article purely because the meaning of this phrase can differ a little amongst different groups of people.
When I say Website Content Management, I’m not talking about the classic CMS systems like WordPress, Joomla! & Drupal, rather what should be done with those systems & how I use them to make my job significantly easier. These tools form the platform of a website & are distinct in their nature, each with its own unique benefits – If I have completed your Website Development, I will have selected a management platform for you or used my Custom CMS for more basic websites.
Effectively, what we are going to discuss today is Copywriting. Working this in alongside having a content deployment plan as well as objectives & measurable evedence in order to ensure your efforts & money are used wisely.
To give you some idea, what you’re reading now, the text on your screen, that’s copy & I (Jay) am the copywriter. With my skills & training, I know how the text should flow & I am aware of what impact my writing will have on search engines. Because of this, I write my articles, pages & content in a way which is Search Engine Optimised (SEO).
Content Management refers to the management of pretty much any tangible media that you create and own: written, visual, downloadable … you name it. It is the piece of your marketing plan that continuously demonstrates who you are and the expertise you bring to your industry.
Get this right & you’ll rank highly on Google, get this wrong & not only will you rank low on google but you also risk borking your customers, stagnating online & making yourself a whole bunch more work to do to fix it!
My Approach To Content Management
I use a variety of industry standard tools to help my clients & I come up with a robust & future proof plan of attack, ensuring that their content and website is up to date, the only thing my client needs to do is give me a full idea of what their goals or ambitions are, who their target market is & a feel for what their written style should be like & I’ll do the hard stuff.
Personally, I find that knowing as much as I can about a business, person or organisation helps me make content which is unique & engaging for its readers. For me, that’s the aim of the game when I am working solely as a content author (copywriter).
